Details:

The next NZSSN Short Course Programme is scheduled for the two weeks 8–12 and 15–19 February 2010, at the usual venue of Victoria University of Wellington's School of Government. We have ten courses planned, including three or four that are new to the NZSSN menu. Meanwhile some old favourites are taking a break, and we are considering running a smaller set of courses mid-year, in the future.

Information on the courses for February 2010 can be found at the bottom of this page. For full details on the Short Course Programme,

2010-02-02: Due to a late withdrawal, our most popular course this year, Introduction to Structural Equation Modelling using Amos™ has a place available once more!.

WHO SHOULD ATTEND?
NZSSN short courses are designed to cater to fundamental, changing and emerging research strategies, and to serve a wide variety of needs for training and professional development within the academic, public and private sectors. Courses cater not only to researchers in the social and political sciences, but also those in areas such as the behavioural sciences, medical and health sciences, epidemiology, policy research, education, economics, law, management, marketing, public relations and human resource management.

WHAT SORT OF COURSES?
Short courses are arranged into three levels: introductory, intermediate and advanced. Introductory courses provide a basic grounding in areas such as research design, statistical techniques, qualitative research methods and data analysis. Intermediate courses build on a basic knowledge of research methods and data analysis by examining multivariate techniques or special applications in research and data analysis. Advanced courses cover more complex, cutting-edge statistical techniques and applications, and examine topics in greater depth.

All NZSSN short courses are delivered by highly qualified instructors; previous courses have received highly positive reviews, which you can browse from the menu at left.

HOW MUCH DOES IT COST?
The following fee structure (including GST) was developed for the 2009 NZSSN Summer Programme. We are pleased to be able to announce that the figures will be staying at these levels for 2010.

Note

  • Research Synthesis for Policy and Practice is only four days in length, and the fees for this are proportionally lower as such.

  • Advanced Analysis of Linked Health Data is a follow-up to last year's introductory course; the fees for this are only $500, across the board.

  • For all other courses:
